Depending on a project's complexity, expect your tree service to provide a fully detailed written estimate outlining what services will be provided. Your tree service contractor should not object to a written contract with exact details of the services afforded when they arrive on-site and when they plan to complete the work.
If You Are Not Comfortable with Any of a Tree Service Provider's Answers, Look Elsewhere. No Harm, No Foul.
Do NOT Offer Cash / Personal Checks Up Front.

Tree trimming and removal can be hazardous work both for client and service provider. A reputable tree service provider will have more than adequate liability and workmen’s compensation insurance coverage; not only for their employees’ protection, but for possible damage to yours or your neighbors’ property
Thoroughly check references; those provided by the tree service, as well as word-of-mouth. To help sort multiple bids for a particular project in mind, it has been our experience to ask some of the following questions of the references.
